For anyone in Indy looking to get their inner-Irish on come St. Patrick’s Day, the Circle City boasts a ton of options. Like many big cities across the U.S., Indianapolis has some strong Irish roots and every year come March 17th downtown is flooded with Leprechauns and lassies alike. This year (2016) will mark the 36th annual St. Patrick’s Day parade, set to begin at 11:30 a.m. with Indy’s 2016 Irish Citizen of the Year, Archbishop Joseph W. Tobin, as Grand Marshal. As part of the Archbishop’s official duties, he will also be adding dye to the White River Canal turning the waterway a vibrant hue of green at precisely 5 p.m. But if you can’t make it to the parade or can’t find a place to watch the dousing of the canal, no worries — you can still celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at any one of these five Irish pubs.
